The Rock Nature Reserve - The Rock NSW

A 6km return walk on solid gravel paths before a rocky climb on a good trail. Total rise of about 250m mostly in the last third of the walk.

Duration to the top: 50mins Return: 45mins.

Just a few kms west of the town of The Rock is the The Rock Nature Reserve and the Yerong Nature Trail. The car park is well formed on a solid road base and has shelters, gas bbq, toilets and some water. A good spot for a picnic after your walk.

The walk starts on the south side of the car park and is a well maintained solid surface clearly defined. About 250m along the path splits and turns sharply to the east and is signed. Don't go straight on as this is not the way to the top. About a 1km into the walk the path turns westward and the trail and climb to the top starts.

The trail zig zags to maintain a reasonable rate of climb before passing south along the base of a sheer rock face and then continues to circle southwest and then northwest and finally east to the top.

From the top and looking to the west the formation on the horizon is the Galore Nature Reserve and a nice pleasant walk compared to this one. To the east is the township of The Rock.
