Mt Cooroora - Pomona Qld

Mt Cooroora - Pomona Qld
Tuckekoi National Park

440m climb
1.5km to the summit
Expectations: Steep climbs over loose rocks, poor footing in places and flimsy hand holds.
Avoidances: During or after rain. Hot sunny late mornings or early afternoons.

Its tough, 440m in 1.5km is a climb more than a walk or trek. The path starts off as a bush walk and is easy and pleasant for the first ~500m. The path is covered by a shady canopy and is generally cool going on a solid well defined track.

The map shows the path weaving right then left as it crosses a dry creek then right again, this is toward the main climb. Its at this point, the second half, that it starts to get tough.

Overall if you don't stop for a breather you could expect to do it in 30 mins going up and about the same down.

On the way down avoid toenail trauma making sure your shoes or boots are laced up tight as your toes are gunna try poking out the front. Not to mention the quadriceps doing some serious complaining.

Update November 2014 - You should check before you go!
